AbroadAbroad/6 May 2007Abroad
Today I set your promise free: threw my heart open to the sky and with clumsy fingers, tossed the tiny thing as it found itself lost in the breeze. I let it loose to
the soft gold of new hope, and left it to learn patience, to learn soaring (because we, too, must learn to fly with only Him) watched the last of its grey wings, fluttering against the sky practising flight. And then I left our house, my steps away leading abroad.

AwayAway/21 Jan 2005Away
Today I put your promise away. Folded it into a neat bundle and through my streaming tears, caught its fluttering desperation as it tried to fly its way back into my soul. Trapped its mad-confused wings and pushed it into its specially-prepared box of silver (which is especially ironic for silver is of you) thrust it in, secured the top with weight, so it could not fly back to me and then I was done, my last glimpse a hollow scream.
